Marino Ballena Tour
 

The  Marino Ballena  National Park was created on February 06 1989.
This  marine park was the first in Latin America with  110 hectares  of land and the 5375 hectares  of ocean, it was created to protect the various coastal marine habitats,  the  beaches, estuaries, mangrove swamps, islands, coral reef and also to protect the marine  endangered species like the humpbacks have their babies.

We specialized in whale and dolphin watching tours and also on sport fishing both inshore and offshore.  In addition, we can take you to the  Caño Island Biolgical reserve or to Corcovado National Park or if you like to take an aventure expedition, to Mangroves Swamps, you can see the wildlife and bird of this area.

Whale Watching Tour

The whale watching tour takes from 2 to 3 hours. If you like, you can snorkel for 1 hour. 

The whales can be seen from the middle of December until February and from July until  the middle of October. In the Whales watching tour usually see Humpback and Pilot Whales. Dolphins are seen all year around.

The whale watching tour and dolphins tour are our specialty.

The Cetaceans are very common animals on this area, they come here during the migration season to give birth to the calves and to feed them for a few months until them get strong and can go back home to the northern or southern hemisphere.

Dolphin Watching Tour

The Dolphin Watching Tour takes from 2 to 3 hours. If you like, you can snorkel for 1 hour. You need to have al least 2 people to book this tour.

The whales can be seen from november to March and from July to September.

Also in the dolphin watching tour we usually see Humpback and Pilot Whales.

Dolphins are seen all year around. The whale and dolphin watching tour is the main tour, we are specialists on these.

Along with the Whale and Dolphin Watching tour, we also offer some additional options, such as: snorkeling, diving, a visit to the caverns at Ventanas beach, a visit to the island of Cano, a visit to Corcovado Park, and sport fishing, among others.

Snorkeling & Cave exploring

This Tour will be practiced on the Marino Ballena National park; with shots you will learn the fundamentals necessary for safe snorkeling.
You will be under the direct supervision of a snorkeling tour guide.

 The Marino Ballena National Park has a colorful rock and reef formation that are the home of huge schools of Barracuda, Jacks and Grunts. There are also numerous species of pelagic fish, turtles, groupers, snappers, king angelfish, Moorish idols, Trumpet fish, and various types of eels and crustaceans, also the giant conch.

 This tour take about 2 hours, the snorkeling sites will be the Ballena Island or Punta Uvita
   We recommend doing the snorkeling tour at Low Tide. The visibility ranges will be between 25 to 75 feet. It depends on the season.

Caño Island Tour

About the island

It consists of a block of eocene basalts many million years old, that rose up due to subduction or the collapse of the cocos plate under the Caribbean plate along the central american trench. the island has great archaeological significance as it was used as a cemetery and a permanent pre-columbian settlement.
You can still see pottery remains and some almost perfectly round stone spheres made by the Indians. The central 90m-high planteau is covered in very tall evergreen forest, basically consisting of enormous cow trees (brosimum utile) ,also known as the milk tree because of the white latex it exudes and which can be drunk.

Although animals are scare , several bird, such as the osprey (pandion haliaetus ) and boas (boa constrictor ) can be seen

There are also 12 species of scleractinian coral that grow to 15 metres deep , as well as sea stars. On isolated rocks , at a depth of about 20 metres, there are algae as well as robust octocoral fauna - species hydroids with severe stings , sponges and sea urchins.

In nearby waters, common bottlenose dolphin, pantropical spotted dolphin , killer whales ,humpback whale, false killer whale,several species of turtle and three species Whales can be seen

The coral reefs can grow up to 15 metres and consist of pocillopora damicornis on the uppermost parts , and of porites lobata , pavona sp. And pocillopora sp. In the deeper parts. Coral growth is richer on the eastern side of the island on a platform about 200 metres long.

About the tour

We leave for Caño Island at 7:30 a.m. and return at 4 p.m.(Aproximately)

On the Caño Island Tour, we provide you with lunch, pay the park entry fee and also provide your wit the snorkeling equipment.

In Cano Island you can go hiking, swim at the beach, and see wildlife and tropical rainforest.

Corcovado Tour  
We leave for the Corcovado National Park Tour at 7:30 a.m. and return at 4 p.m. (Aproximately) On this trip, we provide you with breakfast, lunch and some drinks, and pay the park entry fee.

In the Corcovado National Park Tour you can go hiking, swim in the rivers or at the beach, and see a lot of wildlife and tropical rainforest.

The Corcovado National Park Tour starts abording the boat at Punta Uvita at the Marino Ballena National Park.

The Corcovado National Park is the last original tract of the tropical forest in Central America. This area of the humid rain forest is home to Costa Rica Largest Population of the Scarlet Macaw, more than 700 species of trees, and too many mammals like the jaguars, monkeys, coati and peccaries and reptiles like boa snakes.

Its great biological biodiversity has long attracted the attention of tropical ecologists, as well as a devoted stream of visitor who comes all over the world to enjoy the scenery.

San Josecito Beach Tour

This area of the Peninsula   Osa  is  a forest system and it’s visited to know the ecosystem of the Tropical Humid Forest. That exists in the area and that stays protected, the possibility also exists of:  

To observe some birds, reptiles and Mammals that has its own inhabit in this ecosystem. This is an area of high endemism. 

Many species of mammals, reptiles, birds and arboreal species including palms are known. From which are more than 500 of them identified, and mainly some endemic trees.

Mangrove Tour

The Mangrove tour has been designed to go to the mangroves swamps at Humedal Nacional Terraba Sierpe, this is the biggest mangrove forest in Central America. Is located in the southern of Costa Rica, on the area you wil see the Mangle Caballero, Mangle Piñuela, and other 4 mangle species.

Now in Costa Rica the mangroves are protected. In the past the mangrove tree was used for charcoal, dyeing Leather, firewood, construction, and other uses.
